EAGLE NOTES

 Volume 6

  September 2004 – January, 2005

A love note: This edition of Eagle Notes presents highlights of our 4Q 2004 journeys, and upcoming events in 2005. It is our hope that the stories we share will inspire you on your own journey. In our travels, some have called us “Peace Ambassadors.” The truth is, if you are reading this, then you, too, are walking this path of peace with us because we carry you with us in our hearts and prayers wherever we go. And your prayers lift us up. We do this together. “The time of separation is over.”

Eagle Notes is written in third person to alleviate any confusion around who is speaking. We hope you enjoy! – J&J

Things are Speeding Up

“By 2005 … even the most ‘unaware’ will become aware that something of significance is happening”

Back in early 1997, a dear friend and teacher, Don Alejandro, taught us about the Mayan Prophecies. Don Alejandro is a well known and highly respected Mayan Elder from Guatemala. He told us – over 4-years before the tragedy of 9/11 – that 2002 would be the beginning of what was called “the hard times,” according to the prophecies. He also predicted an acceleration of severe weather and natural disasters. He said, "By the year 2005, there will be so many changes occurring on the earth that even the most 'unaware' among us will become aware that something of significance is happening to our planet."

Given all that has happened – even in the last few months – it is hard not to notice that changes in the natural world are now occurring at a speed that confirms the Mayan predictions. Apparently, this will become even more evident in the next months. But these changes are not just about wild weather and natural disasters. Change is speeding up on all levels of our perceived reality – including geopolitical events, changes in the fabric of society, in our communities and also within each of us as individuals.

Still, it is sometimes difficult to see the overall trends without standing back from daily events. A brief overview of significant headlines – just in the past four months – helps tell the story:

Wild Weather, Earth Changes:
  • The US is rocked by four major hurricanes in quick succession – Frances (140-mph), Ivan (165-mph), Jeanne (120-mph) and Karl (115-mph). Hurricane Jeanne came ashore at exactly the same place as Frances. That’s never happened before. Both Ivan and Jeanne looped around and hit the US twice.
  • Hurricane Ivan is the biggest ever recorded – 165-mph winds. (9/14)
  • Three strong earthquakes struck NW Japan killing at least 26 – the strongest a 7.0 magnitude. 100,000 people waited in shelters through the aftershocks that followed. (10/26)
  • The Antarctic has lost over 300,000 meters2 of its ice shelf over the last 10-15 years, a surface the size of Arizona and New Mexico combined – a sign of global warming. (11/11)
  • A magnitude 9.0 earthquake, the fourth largest ever recorded, struck the ocean floor near Sumatra. The resulting tsunamis swept across the Indian Ocean causing massive death and destruction. (12/26). [The death toll stands at over 225,000. 2.2 million people were displaced. 1 million lost everything.]
  • It snowed in Corpus Christi, Texas – the first time since 1897! (12/26)
  • A storm dropped the first snow in living memory in the United Arab Emirates! (12/31)
  • A slow-moving winter storm moved across southern California and into the Central Rockies. The news described it as “wild weather.” Five days of continuous rain caused flooding in California, Arizona and Utah. The 20” of rainfall in California also caused devastating mudslides. In Utah, the overflowing Santa Clara River swept away 14 homes.
  • Snow fell in Hawaii! (1/14)
  • The blizzard of 2005 dropped up to 3-feet of snow on the Northeastern US, causing power outages, and at least 20 deaths. Hurricane force winds, 84-mph, were experienced in Cape Cod, MA. The storm ranks among the top 10 winter storms in the last 100 years. (1/24)

It seems clear that things are speeding up – including world events*. And, if the Mayan prophecies are anywhere close to being correct, this is just the beginning. With all that is going on, it is difficult to pull up above the drama to see that the turmoil and increasing polarization may be the signs of new birth. Fundamental change is possible as we move through the chaos of the next 7-8 years (through 2012). Don Alejandro said to us over and over, “Wake up! It is time to wake up!” Indeed, we can no longer sit comfortably on the fence. It is time to get into action, and follow our visions and inner guidance. Many people may feel lost in the coming years. They’re going to need us to be awake. As the poet William Stafford wrote: … it is important that awake people be awake, … the darkness around us is deep.”

That’s one of the reasons that we’ll keep doing the “For-the-One” Dances around the world. Not only might we influence the direction of the change taking place. But people may get it at ever deeper levels that the time of separation is really over. As they become less divided within themselves, maybe it will be reflected outward. That’s how we change the world – one person at a time.

Show up, and say “yes”: It is not uncommon for us to receive mail from people asking what they can do to help in a world situation where they, as single individuals, feel helpless. What do we tell them? First, please know that we, more than anyone, are aware that we are just average everyday persons who made a decision to "show up and say yes." We've learned that one person CAN make a difference through the simple act of making new and different choices. The first step for us was "listening," – listening to our hearts and then finding the courage to follow where our hearts guided us.

In the last few years, we each have followed visions given to us that have received global support. To our own amazement, we now find ourselves in a humbling position of offering individuals whatever we can to help them experience their own power and potential. Perhaps the greatest example of this has come through the "For-the-One" Dance that Jeanne was given in vision several years ago, a singing dance whose purpose carries the message that "the time of separation is over."

“For-the-One” Dance Growing

“A time will come when somewhere in the world people will be doing this dance, every moment of every day.”
-- From a dream by S. Mehrtens

Although the first of these dances only took place in April of 2003, it is already taking us into Israel, South Africa, Germany, Ireland, Norway, Brazil, and California, Tennessee, and North Carolina in 2005. And, we have invitations to do the dance in Haiti, Croatia, Iceland, Egypt and more.

When you follow your visions, amazing things happen. We’ve certainly experienced that in following the vision to bring this dance to the people. In fact, we’ve been told that the "For the One" Dance is fulfilling two ancient prophecies, one Hebrew, the other African, that say a time will come when people of all races and cultures will come together to sing and dance as one. To watch the prophecies begin to unfold with such beauty and grace is beyond our wildest imaginings. The best thing we two know to do is stay out of our own way, keep listening, and keep showing up and saying “YES."

As this dance grows, it is becoming something that neither of us anticipated but for which we are deeply grateful. More and more individuals around the world are having dreams or visions, or receiving simple guidance that they are to be part of the International Crews that are forming in support of this dance. This is a good thing because there have now been five persons from different countries and at different times who have "seen" as many as 5,000 people attending future dances. Already, connecting arbors are being designed that will accommodate 200-300 singing dancers, and thousands more “singers” who will surround the arbors with spontaneous song in support of the dancers.

The power to avert disaster: We've been told by Vuzamazulu Credo Mutwa, Keeper of the Zulu teachings and sacred relics in South Africa, that this singing dance has the potential of changing the outcome of even the most powerful of disasters. It is a dance that moves at "lightening speed" and seems to keep up with and/or move beyond the pace of the changes now occurring. It is a healing dance, and a dance that brings back into our collective consciousness the memory that we are not separated at all, but are all part of the same Being – or "being-ness." As our dear friend, Joseph Rael, would say..."all there is … is love. Everything else is pictures in perceptual reality."

Help Needed: If any of you are called to be a part of this extraordinary experience in any way, you are most welcome. Because it is growing so fast, we find we are in need of help from people with administrative/coordinating skills, and also those with fundraising skills. The more we go into environments where war and conflict are prevalent or where poverty conditions have been the norm, the more we realize it's time to connect with those persons out there who want to be a part of this in a powerful, practical, and effective way. For most, this will be primarily by helping to fund a dancer or some other aspect of the dance. If you are interested, contact us for more details.

Note: There’s more information given below on the dances, locations and dance experiences.

Wedding in Wales

“All things return to the One. What does the One return to?” – Zen koan.

In September, we found ourselves in Wales, performing a wedding on 9/11 during the same hour that the planes hit the Trade Center’s Twin Towers in 2001. We didn’t plan it that way. It just happened. But, it was a powerful way to remember the events of 9/11 and, through the love and marriage of two beautiful souls, to plant a seed to symbolically join back together what had been separated.

The marriage was magical. It took place on Primrose Farm, a working organic farm near Brecon, where tall hedgerows meet the narrow, single-carriage roads. Wales is especially beautiful in the fall. There are ripe blackberries along the roads for the picking. Beautiful flowers decorate the countryside – blue lobelias, pink and purple petunias, bright lavender fireweed, and multicolored pansies. It is a land rich with the history of thousands of years that seeps into your bones. You can still feel the spirits of Merlin and Arthur here. Indeed, just 5-km from the farm is a huge, monolithic stone called Arthur’s Stone. It sits atop an ancient burial place overlooking a hedged valley below. Not too far away, at Kilpec, is one of the finest examples of an old Norman Village church. Built in 1143, it is decorated with carvings of gargoyles and Celtic designs, and surrounded by towering oaks, and ancient yew trees that may be more than a thousand years old – an age we can hardly conceive of in the US.

Primrose Farm is steeped in the history and beauty of this land. It is a place that is making a difference – teaching the surrounding community an alternative to large monoculture farming. Paul and Jan, who we married on this 9/11 weekend, are committed to a holistic vision. People from around the world come to visit or work on the farm, and learn innovative new techniques in organic farming and permaculture.

It is in this beautiful place that the wedding took place. For the ceremony, we built a simple arch of freshly cut willow, and decorated it with bright orange nasturtiums as an entryway to the wedding area. The bride and groom, dressed in colorful attire with an East Indian flavor, and with love-filled eyes, did a candle ceremony and exchanged vows inside their Peace-Sound Chamber. Then, a binding ceremony with the sacred male and female belts from the Picuris Tribe was done outside under a huge, 400-year old oak tree – the oak, itself, a symbol of the strength and longevity of this sacred marriage. Although it rained before the ceremony, the weather cleared and the sun came out. And afterward, there was a rainbow – a powerful omen for a happy, healthy and abundant life for the newlyweds.

Dances in North Carolina

“The dances open people to new inspiration. They can create themselves anew. When they do, the whole world changes” – John Pehrson

Bubbles of Light: We returned from Wales in mid-September just as Hurricane Ivan, the most powerful ever recorded (with 165-mph winds), was about to come ashore. To our delight, we found that the crew in North Carolina had completed the permanent roof on the dance arbor. Not only that, but they had some amazing digital photos showing the work crew in the arbor, with bubbles of light surrounding them, and floating everywhere in the arbor – some small, and some quite large! It was clear that something quite wonderful and definitely out of the ordinary was happening. We’ve now done nine dances in this space. And every month, the dance pole is blessed and the spirits fed in a special full-moon ceremony. We think that the bubbles of light captured in the digital photos were the spirit-beings who are supporting the work, and blessing the workers. It’s the kind of amazing thing that happens as we show up and do the work.

We each have the power to change things. And the moment we step out on the spiritual path we are supported in our work by all manners of unseen energies. The truth is, we have infinite potential. The problem is that we don’t really believe it. So, we lock ourselves into a static future by thinking the same thoughts and taking the same actions over and over. But, we have the capacity to change things dramatically by not getting stuck. This entails sound and movement, breaking old patterns, new thinking, and the courage to follow new visions. But how can we accomplish such a thing?

This is one of the powerful purposes of the dances that we lead. The dances take people out of their comfort zones, get them unstuck, and open them to new inspiration, ideas and perceptions. Then they can create themselves anew. When they do, the whole world changes.

In late September and in the beginning of October, we did two dances in North Carolina, back-to-back on successive weekends. Doing back-to-back dances is to be in ceremony for ten days. It is wonderful in many ways but also very intense.

The first was the Sun-Moon Dance, led by John. This is the dance that Beautiful Painted Arrow (Joseph Rael) was given in vision many years ago. It revved the energy up for the second dance, the “For-the-One” Dance led by Jeanne, and in which John was a dancer. We not only lead the dances, but we also dance them when we can.

Many powerful signs occurred around the dances. For instance, there was a rainbow around the sun with a cloud-arrow through it before the Sun-Moon Dance. Seven eagles flew over the arbor at one point. And when the branches of cedar and ash that had decorated the top of the dance pole were burned after the dance, the coals formed a star. The entire arbor is built mostly of cedar, the wood that connects us to the star people. Perhaps the Sun-Moon Dance in NC is now a “Star Dance.”

The second dance was the “For the One” Dance. Eighteen dancers participated. And we’ve learned through our frequent travels to Israel that the number “18” carries the vibration of “Life” in the Hebrew teachings. There were a number of extraordinary events that occurred, including the constant companionship of eagles and hawks. But perhaps the most powerful and touching moment occurred at the exact moment that the Dance ended, when one of the dancers went into vision and was gently taken to her resting place in the arbor. Without any prompting, the entire group of dancers AND all those helping on the crew, formed a circle around her and began to create, spontaneously, an amazing song…They literally were singing “For the One.” The power and the beauty that were created are beyond any words to describe what actually happened. One thing was clear. They got it! At some level, beyond most of our comprehension, these amazing souls remembered … there is only one of us here and all there is, is love.

Another interesting synchronicity is that the week of the Sun-Moon Dance, Hurricane Ivan occurred. Ivan is Russian for "John." Immediately following John's dance, Hurricane "Jeanne" occurred just prior to the "For the One" Dance. Both hurricanes brought an enormous amount of change. Many teachings came from the energy of these storms which continue to unfold.

Dancing in South Africa

“When you dance, the Earth comes alive, heals itself, and heals the people”— Credo Mutwa

In November and December we found ourselves once again in South Africa, just at the time the lavender flowers of the jacaranda trees were in bloom. We returned to Rustler’s Valley at the height of the cherry season. And in this place that the Zulus call the “Valley of the Earth Mother,” we held two "For the One" Dances on consecutive weekends. Again, we could not have foreseen the miracles that occurred during this time. People came from 13 different countries to dance and/or help at the dances which is interesting (as Niyan Stirling pointed out), given that in the first dance held in 2003, there were 13 dancers. One year later, 13 countries. Another interesting piece is that in the Hebrew teaching of the number "13," it is the energy of "one," ... i.e., "For the One."

Once again, we were visited by the Sangomas, the traditional healers of South Africa who came out of their sacred valley and caves to dance. We were reminded that this is the way they used to dance thousands of years ago, and that this is the dance they foresaw in their prophecies, where the people of the "rainbow" (peoples of all colors) would come together to sing and to dance as "one."

There are always small miracles that occur whenever and wherever we do these dances. One example from Rustler’s Valley is something that happened as Jeanne went by herself to clear and bless the dance arbor, and call on the ancient spirits of the land to come and help. When she was done, she knelt at the East Shrine and touched her head to the ground. At that moment, a huge bird flew over her head – so close that she felt the shudder of air from its wings. She looked up to see what kind of bird it was, but it flew directly into the rising sun. Magic!

Another example came after the two dances were complete. A pale dappled-gray horse with white sox ran into the arbor directly to the center dance pole. He circled it slowly – almost as if to honor the four directions – and then raced out of the arbor, bucking its hind legs in the air. The horse’s name, we discovered, was Spirit. Note: Horse energy represents the power that comes from connecting the infinite and personal.

Feedback: After the dances we got lots of positive feedback from the dancers, as we do in every dance. But somehow, a few of the comments in South Africa seemed even more powerful. One of the South African men said to us, “This dance is the most important thing I’ve ever done. It was massive.” A dancer from US said to us, “I lost my voice when I was three years old. This dance helped me find it again.” And a dancer from Ireland said to us, “I’ve done lots of dances, but this dance is the one.”

Legend: We were told a story that is known by every sangoma. It is a legend that we believe is connected with this singing dance. In ancient times, one of the tribes living near Rustler’s Valley possessed the “Key to the Universe.” Another tribe living nearby was jealous of this great and powerful key. So they sent warriors and stole it. Then, because of their greed they lost it. Legend has it that it will take a dance of least two thousand people to open the dimensional gateway for mankind to again find this key. It will take unconditional love combined with spiritual understanding to open the portal and receive the key. Perhaps this legend will ultimately be lived out in this place, Rustler’s Valley – the Valley of the Earth Mother. Half a dozen individuals have, separately and independently, seen a For-the-One Dance of 5000!

Credo Mutwa’s Wisdom

During our time in South Africa, we again had the great honor of spending time with dear Credo Mutwa and received many teachings from him. For those who have not read our previous Newsletters, Baba Credo, now 84 years old, is a “High Sanusi” – akin to a prophet. He is a master clairvoyant, and the carrier of the ancient wisdom of the Zulu people that has come down through their oral tradition. He is keeper of the sacred Zulu relics, some of which are truly amazing. He is called Vuzamazulu by some, a title which means “Awakener of the Zulu.” He is a humble giant of a man, who told us that in the Zulu tradition the visitor is God. Perhaps that is why he always addresses his guests as “Honorable Ones.”

Eleven of us met with Baba Credo mid-morning one day. He was dressed in a floor length caftan of black and tan made of coarse cloth. He was wearing his heavy bronze necklace with the green tourmaline heart the size of a real one. He told us once that the heart is the sign of a Chief. He was anxious to talk with the group, and said to us, “Honorable Ones, we have much to talk about.” It was as if he wanted to tell us things that were important to pass on, so the knowledge would not get lost. And for over two hours, he talked to us, told stories, and answered questions.

It’s not possible to record all that he shared. But here are some highlights:

  • Rustler’s Valley, known as the Valley of the Earth Mother, was once considered to be the holiest place in South Africa. This is where we do the “For-the-One” Dances.
  • There never was such a thing as primitive man. The people that wore animal skins on their bodies did so because they had so much respect for nature that they felt there should be no separation, not because they were “primitive.”
  • There is a tribe in Africa called the “Balabedu” – literally, the people of the gold ingot. They are direct descendents of the Israelites, recently proven through DNA testing. They speak ancient Judaic prayers, and tell of an ancient King with red hair that they called, “Queza Shilumi” (King Solomon).
  • The Irish are also closely related to the Africans…
  • On Aging: Laughter removes wrinkles. Barley fosters long life. Millet produces stamina.
  • Animals are like the blood of the planet. The migration of herds vibrates the air, and adds energy to the Earth along specific pathways.
  • On Dancing: Baba said, “When you dance, the Earth comes alive, heals itself, and heals the people.”
  • Possible 2005 Disaster in the US: At least five seers from around South Africa have foreseen a possible tragedy occurring this year in the US – something akin to 9/11. Baba told us that it is important to dance in July and September. All sacred dances are powerful. But Baba said that this singing dance, the For-the-One Dance, has the power to avert the disaster.
  • The very rich people know many esoteric secrets that they are keeping from general knowledge. They are using this information for personal wealth and power.

Book Project

The way of inspiration is always open, and open to everyone…”—Hilda Doolittle

Another wonderful thing that occurred during the last few months is the possibility of a book in the making on our journey and experiences – written by Monty Joynes, a good friend who is an accomplished author** and Pulitzer Prize nominee. Monty has recently finished the narrative for making the movie book about James Redfield's The Celestine Prophecy -- the movie. He has often urged us to write a book about the transformation that took us out of the corporate world. His feeling is that the story of how we have learned to live spontaneously and follow our visions may be an inspiration to others. It’s a great idea. But we’ve never had time to stop long enough to write down the story. So, Monty has offered to write it for us!

Call for stories/visions: We are collecting individual stories and visions from people who have danced or helped with the For-the-One Dances. It is common for people who have danced or worked at these dances to have powerful insights, visions, and guidance. But we always ask for these to be closely held, unspoken, for at least three months – to gestate, put down roots, and grow in power. So, there are many such visions we’ve never heard about. If you have a vision, or powerful insight that came out of a dance, or a story about how life unfolded in a different way following a dance, please share it with us. Your vision or story may just wind up in our book as an inspiration for others!

** Note: Monty’s books are available through Amazon.com. Check out “The Booker Series.” It includes four books: ▪ "Naked Into the Night", ▪ "Save the Good Seed", ▪ "Lost in Las Vegas", and ▪ "Dead Water Rites".

Mystical Numerology

“Numbers represent movement. They are connectors between the fundamental vibrational building blocks of our reality – the vowel sounds.”—John Pehrson

One important development over the past six months is John's new system of Mystical Numerology. It is something he has been working toward, on-and-off, for 15 years. Finally, in this past year, he has "come out of the closet" and begun to share his amazing findings – in readings, private sessions, and workshops.

Mystical Numerology draws on the work of Joseph Rael, the Mayan system of Day Lords, and traditional western numerology. The resulting system is an integration that is both accurate in the insights it provides, and fascinating for its ability to reveal the deeper meaning behind the ordinary. Its purpose and power is to help people connect in a more powerful way with their inherent spirituality, the deeper meaning and power of words, and the presence of the mystical in the mundane.

Aspects of the System Include:

  • A new, 13-month 28-day winter solstice calendar.
  • How the letters and numbers fit on the Medicine Wheel
  • How to analyze names and birth dates to find the important guiding vibrations, such as: Purpose, Path, Drive, Achievement, and much more.
  • Discovering your personal year, month and day vibrations to help guide your actions
  • Learning what personal chants will energize you for greater success
  • Learning to find the deeper mystical meanings of words

So if any of you are interested in having your chart done, contact John jbpehrson@aol.com for more information. It will be well worth your time and energy.

Insights & Inspirations

“‘BREATHE, then LISTEN. This is where it all begins.’ –This is the first lesson the Ancestors taught me.”
—Jeanne White Eagle

Jeanne’s Insights:

If we do not speak up in the times when the Truth is screaming to be heard, then all we know that is Justice disappears into the sands of time and is lost.

When there is chaos and it is at its height, you know then, that order and birth are not far behind.

Know that little by little you come into the awareness that the only thing here is No-thing…but Love.

Of the “For the One” Dance: Always the movement finds its way into the memory of the Circle…The Sound then takes us Home.

I walk in the gratitude of having been given the vision and trust that Grace will be my constant companion and Love the substance that guides, holds and caresses us all as we walk this journey.

The heart beats, the blood flows, the Soul dances as the Life-Force moves to the rhythm of Birth.

Love what is in front of you in this moment. I (God) will take care of everything else.

Watch the little things. They will guide you.

Of Creation and Spontaneity: Harvest the new that is born in the moment…See in the nearness of time what almost is and is in the decision space of being or not-being...

Movement is one of the definitions of Me (God). Move with Awareness at levels conscious and unconscious until All remembers, and there is no more perception of separation.

There will always be “much to do.” The trick is to see the illusion…the ‘perceptual reality.” Then choose.

The silence speaks loudly for any who will hear it.

Gather unto you what matters to you. Look at it. Perceive its depths. Then let it go. Only then will you remember it is part of you so intimately that there is no separation no matter what the perceived space or time is. There is only One. Remember this. And that which would say otherwise to you, again, is only a perceptual reality.

There are those who have come to remind you of the being you perceive yourself to be and to have once been…i.e., finding ‘yourself’ again. Always it is about remembering. Once this happens and happens in ‘totalness,’ then the perception of the physical will only continue for you to ‘tap into’ as you do a game you’ve learned that no longer presents a challenge. Be aware, however, there are still a few secrets it has to reveal. Remember. Nothing ends. It simply changes in its choice to remember.

John’s Insights:

About Thunder: In Rustler’s Valley, in between the two South African For-the-One Dances, I was relaxing late one afternoon. Rolling thunder began bathing the valley with the loud, booming voice of the Ancient Ones. The sound of thunder was connecting our hearts to the Divine, connecting the infinite and personal and bringing with it greater awareness and understanding. As a strong wind played with the leaves of the blue gum trees adding to the symphony of sound, I thought to myself, the sounds of everything are important in opening the earth for things to grow.

Every infinitesimal part of us is connected with all people, events, places and things – everywhere and throughout all time. We are connected to even the smallest part of the inconceivable vastness of an infinite multi-verse, an infinity of universes that exist like clusters of beehives across a multi-dimensional space. We are connected back to the most distant past, and into the farthest, most unimaginable future. Everything we do creates a ripple across all time and space. In effect, we create a new reality in every moment with each breath, thought, and action.

As we navigate through the adventures of life, we often wonder whether we are on course, or off course. But the truly important points are the course corrections. Course corrections are the turning points that lead us back to the desired path following a foray into some unknown place. Stepping off the path into the squishy marshland of uncertainty to sometimes wallow in fear and forgetting are times when learning is presented, and often too-slowly embodied. Straying from our intended course often holds the purposive power of memorable teaching moments. Still, it is the course corrections that hold the magic power of transformation.

  Niyan’s Vision:

While in Brazil last year, Niyan Stirling, the South African coordinator for our dances, had a powerful vision. He was taken out of his body and brought high up over the Earth. He was looking down at the planet from a great distance, so great that the Earth appeared as a rotating ball. He saw a band of angry, red, disruptive energy in the Northern Hemisphere connecting the USA and the Middle East. He was told that there was a purpose to it, a purpose of waking people up. In the Southern Hemisphere, there was an equally powerful band of loving, peaceful green energy. As he looked at this green band of energy, he was told, “There is always balance.”
