News Update August 2004

Dearest Friends,

As most of you know, we returned from Israel recently.  We realize (with some astonishment!) that in the last three and one-half years, we two have been in that part of the world a total of nearly ten months...long enough to have an intimate experience of the beauty and the pain of both the Israelis and Palestinians.

This last trip we took the "For the One" Dance to Israel and participated in one of the most powerful experiences either of us has ever had. Rather than going into detail here, we thought you might enjoy reading the short article below, written by John and adapted for a newsletter called "Peace Talk."  We hope you'll enjoy it. In a few days, we also will be doing an update of our own Internet newsletter, "Eagle Notes." We invite you to read it on our website (www.Jeannewhiteeagle.com).

We've received a number of requests asking about our updated schedule. The following is what we know so far:

In 2005, in addition to returning to Israel, South Africa, Tennessee and North Carolina, plans are presently being made to take the "For the One" Dance to Germany, Haiti and Palestine. This is what we know, thusfar. We are remaining flexible and continually being challenged to "live in the moment."

It is important to note that a rather remarkable international traveling crew is forming in regard to the "For the One" Dance. People from around the world are being called to be a part of the support staff that makes the "For the One" Dance possible. These are people called to support in every capacity, including those who made donations. It is an awesome experience to be part of a miracle unfolding, as this dance (and all that it brings) surely is.

Always there seems to be so much to share. One item to watch for is more information on the new system of Mystical Numerology and a new calendar that John has created and been working on over a period of years. We will write more on this later. He presently is doing private sessions and is open to do workshops for any who are interested.

Please know we are always open to invitations to visit your community.

Know, too, that, though you are already an intimate part of what we do, there is always a place for you in the event you wish to be on our international dance team.

This comes with much love and many blessings for each of you,
Jeanne and John (see short article below)

For-the-One Dance in Israel
Israel is one of the pivotal places on the planet right now. What happens there ripples outward around the globe and touches us all in some way. The violence there has affected life in America in dramatic ways, especially since September 2001. Just so, if peace can happen in this little piece of land where the prophets of three great religions walked, it will also spread seeds of peace around the world. That is why we felt so blessed when the For-the-One Dance became a reality in northern Israel May 4-6 in the Galilee.

The For-the-One Dance comes from a vision received by Jeanne White Eagle at the Center for Peace in September 1996. It is a three-day dance that combines fasting and movement, with spontaneous songs using the vowel sounds. It carries the message: the time of separation is over. Its purpose is to heal what is out of balance, and help participants experience a state of "oneness" in which they remember their connection with all things. We've been told by both Israelis and South Africans that it is the fulfillment of ancient prophecies that say a time will come when people of all colors will come together and sing and dance as one.

The dance in Israel brought many miracles, the first being the outpouring of support that made the dance possible. This included generous donations from around the world for travel expenses, the crew that helped build the arbor and prepare the land, and the international team that worked the dance as Moon Mothers, Sun Fathers, Fire Keepers, Dog Soldiers and Kitchen Angels. Thirty people helped in putting on the dance. Roughly half of these came from the US, Croatia, Germany, France, and South Africa - including nine from the Center for Peace!
Miracles happen around these kinds of sacred dances, and we had our share right from the beginning:

  • Eagles are not common in Israel. Four of them blessed us with their presence as we built the arbor.
  • We built the dance arbor, sweat lodge and latrines from scavenged materials. We had to be creative but, magically, we found everything we needed - including the perfect dance pole.
  • The arbor was built in a space surrounded on three sides by huge, ancient rocks. We didn't have enough space or enough wood to build a traditional arbor so we improvised, using sturdy rope instead of wood where we could. We also had a good teacher who told us, "Don't get stuck in form!" We didn't. The result turned out to be a 10-sided star.
  • An Israeli carpenter made the People's Drum. He used the trunk of a large ficus tree that was shaped a little like an infinity sign. The head of the drum was a buffalo skin donated by Minisa and Jim Halsey from Oklahoma. What a blessing!
  • When we set the west shrine, and finished our prayers, the thunder beings came and it rained hard for 40 minutes. Rain is uncommon in Israel in May. But even stranger was that it rained only in the area surrounding the arbor. The owner of the land said to us, "That was amazing! I've never had a private rain shower before!"
This dance had 26 dancers, including a beautiful man who is paralyzed from the neck down. His personal nurse wheeled him back and forth to the center pole. Of the 26 dancers, 23 were Jews. The 3 Muslims included a Palestinian woman, an Israeli Arab man, and an Egyptian woman who went through 4-hours of interrogation by Israeli Security crossing the border just to come to the dance. Several who danced did so at the risk of losing their jobs because they felt it was that important.

In the few short weeks since the dance, we have received many emails from dancers and helpers of positive, life-changing experiences. Their stories are spreading through the spiritual community in Israel and are already creating excitement around future dances. So, next May we plan to have two dances in the Galilee, a week apart. One of the dancers also wants us to build a dance arbor in Palestinian Territory - near Ramallah! Now, won't that be a miracle?
